ALCADI 2008 Internat. Symposium on Speleo-History in the Alpine, Carpathian and Dinaridic Region

International Symposion on Speleo-History in the Alpine, Carpathian and Dinaridic Regions
15 th to 17th september 2008 in region of Baden, Lower Austria

First Circular

The Symposion will be held in the Thermal-Region of Lower Austria from September 15th to September 17th. The programm includes the presentation of papers and posters, special discussions and excursions. Excursions will be made to speleohistoric objects in the region and to related archives in Vienna. Also a postsymposion excursion will be prepared.
ALCADI 2008 is held directly after the annual meeting of the Austrian Speleological Association (Verband ?sterreichischer H?hlenforscher) in Baden, Lower Austria. So its possible to take part on the meetings excursions as initial contact to the region.

Topics for the symposium are contributions that are related to the ALCADI-region about the development of cave science, the acceptance of caves in public, their cultural appreciation (tourism, art).

Lost and forgotten facts should come to light and be provided for an international audience and as well impart knowledge for a new generation of speleologists about their historical heritage.

Topics should cover the time up to the end of WW-I. They can exceed this deadline when they deal with activities that where started before and continued on, like the work of people and institutions that have their speleological roots prior to this time limit.

Languages of the meeting are English and German. Contributions in other languages are accepted, if the lecturer provides an interpretation in the mentioned languages.

Contributions might be rejected, if they deal exclusively with local topics and topics after 1920.

We would ask you to forward this first circular to interested Colleagues we cant reach with our address list.

Please send registration dates, title of papers and posters soon as possible. Latest to end of may, for organization of accommodation and preparing the Second Circular.
