Did you know?

That ground-water basin is 1. a general term used to define a ground-water flow system that has defined boundaries and may include permeable materials that are capable of storing or furnishing a significant water supply; the basin includes both the surface area and the permeable materials beneath it [22]. 2. the area throughout which ground water drains towards the same point; it can be larger than the accompanying surface water drainage basin if permeable layers extend outside of the topographic divide [16]. see also drainage basin.?

GA EGU Session NH8.03 "NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC HAZARDS IN KARST AREAS"

Dates: From 15 Apr, 2007 till 20 Apr, 2007
Location: Vienna, Austria

Dear colleague,
You are invited to submit one or more abstract(s) to the session

"NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC HAZARDS IN KARST AREAS"

The session (no. NH8.03) is included in the Natural Hazards Program
of the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU), to
be held in Vienna (Austria) from April 15 to 20, 2007.

I am organizing the session along with

Jo De Waele (university of Bologna) and Francisco Gutierrez
(University of Zaragoza).

More information, and a short description of the session, may be found at
http://www.cosis.net/members/meetings/sessions/information.php?p_id=247&s_id=4433
or you can contact me at this e-mail address for further information

The Abstract Deadline is January 15, 2007, and abstracts should be
submitted through the EGU website at
<http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2007/how_to_submit_an_abstract.html>http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2007/how_to_submit_an_abstract.html
Info on the meeting:

As in the last years, it is our intention to publish a selection of
the session papers in a special issue of an international, peer
reviewed, journal.
At the meeting in Vienna we will discuss about this possibility with
all of the attendants.

I also would like to inform you that at EGU 2007 there will be
another session dealing with karst in Vienna:
it is the session on karst geomorphology "GM7 Surface and Subsurface
Karst Geomorphology ", convened by Jo De Waele.
This year karst scientists are given the opportunity to present
papers to both sessions.
Both sessions, related to more or less applied geomorphological
issues, are correlated and session convenors will work together to
make both karst sessions successful.
Info on the Surface and subsurface karst geomorphology session is at:

I look forward to receiving abstracts from you, and to seeing you in Vienna

Sincerely

Mario Parise
