wayboard
One of many thin beds of volcanic clay that occur at intervals within the Carboniferous carbonate succession of the Peak District, England; a term formerly used by lead miners (see toadstone). Wayboards have potential significance during speleogenesis when they may act as local aquicludes, inception horizons or providers of strong acid formed by oxidation of sulfide minerals [9].
