spring, submarine
1. A spring emerging in a sea or lagoon predominantly in karst terranes. This is a descriptive term generally corresponding to the genetic term `drowned spring [20].' 2. Large offshore emergence, generally from cavernous limestone, but in some areas from beds of lava [10]. Synonyms: (French.) source sous marine; (German.)
